sounds like you could try out for RB mostly, but you might want you coach to check your 40 yard dash time, but if your gonna be a RB you need to focus on speed and quickness, ask your coach he will tell you there is a big difference between speed and quickness.

from experience, middle school football is ALL ABOUT IMPRESSIONS. Tell the coach when he needs someone to play a position that you will play that position. Be willing to do ANYTHING the coaches ask you to do. THAT will impress them. Dont be afraid to talk to coaches about giving you a chance they like confident kids.

Well im kinda in the same position as you man im only 5’5" and im 16 in the 11th grade im a Halfback and a kick off returner for varsity but you can try out for both and see witch one is better for you but Running back is a really fun position.

Well first 8th grade football isn’t something you should take seriously. Even if your on a C or A team. However, it will help you develop later. Don’t think of the "now" think of the later. Try out for as many positions as you can. I was WR, TE, KR, CB through Youth and High School football. In my Sophomore year I became a QB and stuck with it. My experience in those positions really help me develop the understanding of the game. The more you are experienced the better. Wait until about your sophomore, junior year to choose a position you want. Besides most Scouts pay attention to senior and junior classes.
